TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Iwa Karniwa, the administrative secretary to the West Java administration's regional secretary, said the provincial government was preparing a governor’s letter about the appointment of PT Jabar Monorel as the monorail project manager in Bandung. "We’re composing the letter,” he said on Monday.

PT Jabar Monorel is a joint venture between PT Jasa Saranaa state-owned company whose shares are largely owned by the provincial governmentand PT Sarana Infrastruktur Indonesia, a subsidiary of Panghegar Group, that cooperates with China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation (CMC), a state-owned company from China. PT Jabar Monorel is a public company and is undergoing registration process as a legal entity at the Justice and Human Rights Ministry.

According to Iwa, the provincial government will also sign a cooperation agreement with PT Jabar Monorel after it was officially established on the management and construction of a monorail project in Bandung. He added the fund for the project would be entirely covered by the company.

The West Java government is also preparing five recommendations for the Bandung monorail lanes. “We are compiling a draft recommendation at the Transportation Ministry for the monorail lanes,” he said. The first lane will travel through Leuwipanjang Terminal, Gedebage, Jatinangor and Tanjung Sari. “The total span is 28.9 kilometers,” said Iwa.

PT Panghegar Grou president director Cecep Rukmana said the first phase of the process for PT Jabar Monorel establishment would involve PT Jasa Sarana and PT Sarana Infrastuktur. “PT CMC will enter in a month,” he said.

According to Cecep, the majority of the shares were owned by PT Jasa Sarana while PT Sarana Infrastruktur Indonesia owned 30 percent. He added the shares for PT CMC, meanwhile, is still under discussion. “There is no confirmation yet on the percentage. It’s still being negotiated,” he said.
