TEMPO.CO, New Delhi - Tommy Sugiarto failed to donate the first point to Indonesia in the last match of Group-A Thomas Cup 2014 against Thailand in Siri Fort Stadium, New Delhi, India on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. He was defeated by Thailand’s senior badminton player Boonsak Ponsana, 21-14, 13-21, 17-21.


In the first set, Tommy dominated the game. However, in the second set Boonsak managed to turn the game around, leading by 15-11 against Tommy. Boonsak stayed on the lead until he won by 21-13.


In the third set, Tommy was having a hard time to stay away from the pressure and fell way behind by 5-14. After a brief comeback where Tommy managed to catch up with Boonsak's score, he committed a foul and give Boonsak the advantage, allowing the Thailand player to lead by 20-17. Finally, another foul sends Boonsack to victory.


With the result, Thailand leads 1-0 to Indonesia in the competition.
