TEMPO.CO , Washington - The United States' government actions in dealing with Edward Snowden had cost 13 spots in the global press freedom rankings, dropping the country to position 46 along with Romania and Haiti.
The index was compiled by Reporters Without Borders, a press advocacy group, by analyzing media handling, media independence and infrastructure in 180 countries.
The group reported that the press freedom is under government attack around the world. State’ authorities have becoming more and more active in monitoring the media and tracking down whistleblowers.
