TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's men’s single shuttler, Tommy Sugiarto, is going to meet Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei at 2014 Malaysia Open final, today. Tommy becomes the only Indonesian representative left in the tournament after mixed double Lilyana/Tontowi and men's double Angga/Ryan failed to step forward at the semifinal yesterday.
The fourth seeded Tommy Sugiarto got his chance to challenge world’s first ranked Lee Chong Wei after beating Japan’s Kenichi Tago 21-13, 21-18 last night. At the same day, Lee Chong Wei claimed his victory over Denmark’s Jan O. Jorgensen after the third seeded decided to quit the game at the second set because of injury.
"To be able to go to the final is a long way, especially in a super series level tournament. I will perform 'all out' tomorrow. Everybody knows that Chong Wei is currently the best player; he also has more experience than I do," said Tommy. "I will continue to perform the best. I hope I'll grab my first winning over Chong Wei at the final tomorrow," Tommy said last night.
