TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The transportation Ministry gave a warning to six air carriers that had drastically increased ticket prices during Christmas and New Year holidays. Transportation Ministry Spokesman, Bambang Ervan, said that the six aviators were proven to violate the Ministerial Decree on regulating the minimum and maximum price adjustments.
"Based on our supervision from October, there are at least six to seven aviators that have been given a warning," he said, Saturday, December 21, 2013. He refused to reveal the names of the carriers and routes.
Those air carriers would be automatically sanctioned. They would be sanctioned if they continued to ignore the government's warning. "The sanctions could be the prohibition of increasing flight frequency or routes, if they were still unruly they could be prohibited from operating," he said.
As for the supervision on land transportation, it was only carried out by the end of this year. "This is because buses are generally booked closer to travel dates, if for planes they are booked much earlier," he said. Meanwhile, sea transportation such as Pelni and ferry crossing used fixed prices.
