TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Special Economy Crime Directorate at the Indonesian Police managed to bust online soccer gambling and arrested its operator Herman. The gambling venue has been running since 2008, recently captured operating in Sei Panas, Batam.

Director General Arief Sulistyanto stated that the transaction required the gambler to deposit some amount of cash to the administrator's account before creating his or her transaction account. When a gambler wins, the amount of money will be transferred to his or her particular account.

Chief of Cyber Crime Sub-directory Senior Commissioner Rahmad Wibowo explained that the game's MO is by jacking into soccer matches as shown in National television without clear authorization. "The suspects had a transceiver in Batam," said Rahmad.

The match was then relayed to SBOBET.com, a betting-server in Philippine. Using the server, the then streaming match was distributed to indobet.com and raja303.com. "Therefore, its gamblers are not only from Indonesia," he said.

The police have also blocked the account worth Rp100 billion of transaction. General Arief added that the suspects will face charges of 303 Penal Code on Gambling, along with Money Laundering and Information and Electronic Transaction Laws.
