TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) Sofjan Wanandi has requested that the plan to raise logistics costs to be accelerated so businesses can begin to make estimations on the prices of goods.
Sofjan said the Land Transportation Organization (Organda) is currently negotiating with the government concerning logistics cost increase. The government had proposed a 15-persent increase but so far, no deal had been made. Furthermore, it is the time of the year when businesses start delivering goods at bigger volume than usual, 20 to 30 percent higher, due to the approaching fasting month and the Eid al-Fitr celebration.
"We request for the implementation of price increase plan to be accelerated in order to determine the prices of goods. Prices can climb up from five to ten percent during the fasting month," Sofjan explained.
