TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is ready to restore the temporary suspension of the registration of electronic system organizers (TDPSE) owned by TikTok Pte Ltd. The Director General of Digital Space Supervision from the ministry, Alexander Sabar, said this could be done as long as TikTok meets the requirements that have been conveyed.

"TikTok has been in communication and coordination to provide constructive solutions for compliance. If these obligations are met, the suspension status can be restored immediately," said Alexander when contacted on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Alexander stated that the temporary suspension of TikTok's TDPSE has been in effect since yesterday. On the same day, he said, TikTok also committed to resolving this issue cooperatively.

However, Alexander is reluctant to disclose the deadline given by the ministry for TikTok to meet the requirements for restoring the suspension of TDPSE. "We will inform you later," said Alexander.

The Communication Ministry temporarily froze TikTok's TDPSE as a consequence of the protest at the end of last August. At that time, TikTok also temporarily disabled the live stream feature used by its users to broadcast the wave of protests in several areas that resulted in chaos.

Previously, Alexander Sabar stated that TikTok was suspended due to its failure to comply with the stipulated laws and regulations. He mentioned that there were suspicions of monetizing live activities from accounts that indicated online gambling activities. Therefore, the Communication Ministry requested data that included traffic information, live stream activities, as well as monetization data, including the number and value of gifts given.

In response, TikTok management stated that they respect all regulations in every country in which they operate. "TikTok respects the law and regulations in the countries where we operate," said a TikTok spokesperson through a written statement received by Tempo on Friday, October 3, 2025.

TikTok is continuing to work with the Communications Ministry to resolve this issue. Additionally, TikTok is committed to protecting its users' privacy.
