TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) has received 300 reports of alleged ID misuse to support independent candidate pair Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

Sakhroji, the Coordinator of the Legal, Education, and Training Division at Jakarta Bawaslu, confirmed that residents filed these complaints at both provincial and district/city-level Bawaslu offices.

“They did not support the pair, and we are still opening the complaint post,” Sakhroji told Tempo via WhatsApp text on Tuesday evening, August 20, 2024.

Bawaslu has submitted a letter to the Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU) requesting that the data of the 300 affected residents be updated in the nomination information system (SILON), reflecting their actual support status.

“If the status is MS (meeting the requirements), the Jakarta KPU should revise it to TMS (not meeting the requirements) because the residents who complained don’t give their consent to support the independent candidate pair,” he stressed.

Of the six reports received directly at the Jakarta Bawaslu office, the agency is currently conducting an initial investigation to assess their validity and determine whether they meet the necessary material and formal requirements.

If found to be valid, these reports will be registered and forwarded to the Integrated Law Enforcement or Gakkumdu Center, a joint task force consisting of Bawaslu, the police, and the prosecutor's office, for further investigation into potential election law violations.

Sakhroji further mentioned that the Jakarta KPU has already revised the support status of 403 residents who complained about their ID data being used without their consent to support the Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana candidate pair.
