TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on July 23 conducted searches at a number of locations in connection with the alleged presidential social welfare or 'Bansos' corruption case. KPK spokeswoman Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto said the searches were conducted in five locations in the Greater Jakarta area.
"For the exact location, we cannot provide it at this time," KPK spokeswoman Tessa Mahardika said at the KPK's Red and White Building in South Jakarta, as quoted Wednesday, July 24.
She added that the KPK would provide an update after investigators report their findings.
The KPK is investigating the corruption case of presidential support during Covid-19. The alleged fraudulent practice is estimated to have caused financial losses to the state of Rp125 billion.
The president director of PT Mitra Energi Persada (MEP), Ivo Wongkaren a.k.a. IW, has been named as a suspect by the KPK. "IW was named as a suspect based on the development of the social welfare distribution case that was recently decided by the Corruption Court," Tessa said.
