TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eid homecoming is more fun when combined with sightseeing. In Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, there are a number of tourist attractions that can be visited to add to the excitement of the Eid holiday.
The chairman of the Banyuasin Tourism Awareness Community Branch (DPC Masata), Muhammad Asri, recommended a number of places to visit, all along the Palembang-Pangkalan Balai highway. These are places that offer educational tourism as well as a place to hang out surrounded by the beauty of nature.
The following is a brief overview of the plantation and agrotourism sites to visit in Banyuasin.
- Sembawa Agropark
A place for everyone to visit and enjoy, Sembawa Agropark offers natural beauty in the form of lakes, parks and culinary tourism. During certain fruit seasons, visitors can pick rambutans and eat them on the spot or take them home as souvenirs. During Ramadan, many have made Sembawa Agropark their favorite place to wait for sundown and have Iftar together, some even camping overnight by the lake or pool. In the middle of the lake, the management prepares various games such as boat rides and water balloons.
- Rubber Research Center
For students, the Rubber Research Center is a must-visit area in Banyuasin. Here, visitors can find superior rubber seeds that have been recognized nationally. The Rubber Research Center is one of the research center units under PT Ilmu Perkebunan Nusantara (RPN), a subsidiary of state-owned PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero).
- BPTU-HPT Sembawa
Located on the same site as Sembawa Agropark and the Rubber Research Center, BPTU-HPT Sembawa KM 29. The Nursery Center for Superior Animal Breeding and Forage Animal Feed Sembawa - or BPTU-HPT Sembawa for short - is an area where visitors can learn proper poultry and cattle raising. Operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, this place also allows visitors to see the breeding and raising of various types of chickens and cattle.
