TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is determined to file a lawsuit with the State Administrative Court (PTUN) over various alleged anomalies during the 2024 presidential election. According to the party's executive board chairman, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, the lawsuit will expose the deeply ingrained aberrant behavior in the ongoing presidential election race.

“This is not to demand the annulment of the election results, but to demonstrate that there has been a significant irregularity in the election process,” Djarot said at the Ganjar-Mahfud campaign team’s (TPN) Media Center in Menteng, Central Jakarta on Monday, April 1, 2024.

Djarot mentioned several anomalies, including the Constitutional Court's ruling on the presidential age limit, ethical violations committed by the General Elections Commission (KPU) in accepting Gibran Rakabuming Raka's candidacy, and the use of state officials to back certain pairs of candidates.

He stressed that the lawsuit would be filed to seek justice and to prevent various shortcomings in the presidential election from being repeated in the next election, “especially, in the upcoming 2024 regional elections.”

Djarot kept mum when asked about the lawsuit material, claiming that the matter was still under discussion by his party. He also refrained from revealing when the lawsuit would be lodged.

He did, however, clarify that the lawsuit would be filed on behalf of the PDIP, not the coalition supporting the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md. ticket. He also said that there had been no deliberations about the lawsuit with other coalition members, namely the PPP, Perindo Party, and Hanura Party, but welcomed other parties to join the legal process.
