TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pertamina and Bakrie Group agreed to develop Shared Hub Infrastructure in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN). The cooperation is contained in the MoU signed between Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati and Bakrie and Brothers CEO Anindya Bakrie in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. The groundbreaking for this project is targeted for the second quarter of 2024.

Anindya Bakrie said the development of Shared Hub Infrastructure for the International Institute of Sustainability Indonesia (IISI) aims to advance education and encourage green economic development in Indonesia.

"To support the government in achieving the net zero emission target by 2060, Bakrie Group has also expanded its business into sustainable businesses such as transportation electrification and renewable energy," he said in a written statement on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

According to him, education has an important role. IISI can be a place for various research, including research conducted by the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability (SDSS). In addition, it is a platform for collaboration between the private sector, government, and the global academic community.

Meanwhile, Nicke Widyawati of Pertamina hopes that this development can be a key driver for the development of a new capital city that is sustainable and environmentally friendly.

"This cooperation scheme is very interesting as it is a synergy between an SOE, a private company, and world-class universities. It is beyond just constructing a physical structure, but it is also about building a foundation for Indonesia," Nicke said.

Nicke claimed that Indonesia has great potential to become a leader in the energy transition sector, given its abundant resources. In addition, the Indonesian population continues to grow.

She hopes that this development can be a key driver of sustainable and environmentally friendly development of the new capital city. Pertamina targets a national emissions reduction of 31.89 percent by 2030. The target could extend to 43.20 percent if supported by international parties.
