Japan Tops the List of 10 Fittest Countries in the World

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Living a healthy and long life is the hope of many people. But that hope is not easily realized, especially if the environment is not supportive. According to Daily Express, there are ten countries where the residents are some of the fittest people in the world. The 10 fittest countries around the world have been ranked based on the life expectancy, weight, and overall fitness of their residents.

Japan tops the list with a life expectancy of 84.4 years. In addition, one in 1,450 people there is now over 100 years old. They are also physically active and pay close attention to their food intake.

The second and third most fit countries are Vietnam and South Korea with Asia dominating the list. Here are the countries with the fittest residents, as reported by the Daily Express.

10. Cabo Verde

Life expectancy (2021): 74.1 years

Overweight population (2016): 34.8 percent

Underweight population (2016): 7.8 percent

Total unfit population: 42.6 percent

More than 55 percent of the adult population was fit in 2016, according to WHO data.

9. Thailand

Life expectancy (2021): 78.7 years

Overweight population (2016): 32.6 percent

Underweight population (2016): 8.6 percent

Total unfit population: 41.2 percent

In 2016, 58.8 percent of adults in Thailand were reported to be fit, according to WHO data.

8. Mauritius

Life expectancy (2021): 73.6 years

Overweight population (2016): 32.3 percent

Underweight population (2016): 8.1 percent

Total unfit population: 40.4 percent

According to WHO data, about 60 percent of adults in Mauritius were fit in 2016.

7. Maldives

Life expectancy (2021): 79.9 years

Overweight population (2016): 30.6 percent

Underweight population (2016): 9.2 percent

Total unfit population: 39.8 percent

About 60 percent of adults in the Maldives are fit according to WHO data in 2016.

6. Singapore

Life expectancy (2021): 83.4 years

Overweight population (2016): 31.8 percent

Underweight population (2016): 6.2 percent

Total unfit population: 38.0 percent

A total of 62 percent of adults there were fit in 2016 according to WHO data.

5. China

Life expectancy (2021): 78.2 years

Overweight population (2016): 32.3 percent

Underweight population (2016): 5.3 percent

Total unfit population: 37.6 percent

According to the WHO, more than 60 percent of the population in China was fit in 2016.

4. Sri Lanka

Life expectancy (2021): 76.3 years

Overweight population (2016): 23.3 percent

Underweight population (2016): 14.0 percent

Total unfit population: 37.3 percent

More than 60 percent of adults there were fit in 2016.

3. South Korea

Life expectancy (2021): 83.5 years

Overweight population (2016): 32.4 percent

Underweight population (2016): 4.3 percent

Total healthy population: 36.7 percent

In South Korea, about 63.3 percent of adults reported being fit in 2016.

2. Vietnam

Life expectancy (2021): 73.6 years

Overweight population (2016): 18.3 percent

Underweight population (2016): 17.7 percent

Total unfit population: 36.0 percent

According to 2016 WHO data, 64 percent of adults in Vietnam are fit.

1. Japan

Life expectancy (2021): 84.4 years

Overweight population (2016): 27.2 percent

Underweight population (2016): 6.8 percent

Total unfit population: 34.0 percent

WHO reports more than 65 percent of Japanese citizens were fit in 2016.
