TEMPO.CO, Solo - A multitude of trains scheduled to depart from Solo Balapan Station have been canceled due to flooding that has ravaged Semarang, Central Java, in the early hours of Thursday, March 14. In addition, several trains have also been subjected to delays.

Krisbiyantoro, the Public Relations Manager of state-owned railway operator KAI Operational Area (Daop) 6 Yogyakarta, confirmed the information on Thursday.

“Daop 6 Yogyakarta apologizes for the inconvenience caused to train users whose journeys were affected by flooding in the Semarang area,” Krisbiyantoro expressed regrets in Solo City.

He outlined that the canceled trains include the Joglosemarkerto Train connecting Solo Balapan-Tegal and the Banyubiru Train connecting Solo Balapan-Semarang Tawang, and the same applies to the return trip.

“For customers whose train journeys are affected, KAI will provide compensation as per applicable regulations, in the form of Service Recovery and ticket refunds of up to 100 percent excluding booking fees,” he said.

He explained that the cancellation process may take up to seven days after the scheduled departure. For further information, the public can contact customer service at the station, KAI Contact Center 121, WhatsApp KAI121 at 08111-2111-121, email cs@kai.id, or KAI121 social media.

The Semarang area, particularly the Semarang Tawang - Alastua road plot, the Semarang Tawang - Semarang Poncol road plot, and the Mangkang - Kaliwungu road plot, have been severely affected by flooding.

The railway tracks in these areas have been inundated since early Thursday, with more than ten centimeters of water above the rail head, rendering it impossible for trains to pass.
