TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) reported Ganjar Pranowo to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for allegedly accepting gratification or bribes in the form of cashback from insurance companies. The presidential candidate number three denied the accusation.

“I have never received any gifts or gratuities from anyone they (IPW) accused me of,” Ganjar said firmly on Tuesday, March 5, as quoted from Antara.

IPW reported the former governor of Central Java and the director of lender BPD Central Java identified as S to the anti-graft body. IPW chief Sugeng Teguh Santoso confirmed that the report was based on allegations of gratification amounting to more than Rp100 billion.

“IPW reported alleged criminal acts of corruption in gratification and/or bribery for receiving cashback from several insurance companies to the managing director of Bank Jateng (S) and the controlling shareholder of Bank Jateng, Ganjar Pranowo (GP), which is estimated to have occurred between 2014 and 2023,” Sugeng said.

He elaborated that the insurance companies provided credit guarantees to Bank Jateng creditors, which were understood as cashbacks. Meanwhile, the bank controlled cashback from insurance companies amounting to 16 percent of the premium value, which was then allegedly allocated to three parties.

“Five percent for the operation of Bank Jateng, both central and regional, 5.5 percent for Bank Jateng shareholders consisting of regional governments or regional heads, and 5.5 percent for the controlling shareholder of Bank Jateng, who is suspected to be the Central Java Governor named GP,” he said.

The KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri confirmed the report filed by IPW against Ganjar Pranowo. “We will immediately follow up [on the report] by first verifying it,” said Ali.
