TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The permit for Anies Baswedan's Desak Anies event slated this afternoon at Museum Diponegoro Sasana Wiratama in Yogyakarta has been unilaterally revoked. The venue management asked event organizers to empty the building a day before the event.

Desak Anies (Urging Anies) was scheduled for Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. local time. However, on Monday at around 08:00 p.m., the Instagram accounts @aniesbaswedan and @ubahbareng announced that the event would no longer held at the decided venue.

"The permit from venue management is in our hand, the sound [system] has been installed, but we were suddenly informed that the permit has been revoked! Wait for the substitute location, please," it announced.

When confirmed, Kinas, one of the event organizers from the Ubah Bareng community said that the permit was revoked due to the presence of Anies Baswedan.

According to Kinas, Museum Diponegoro management revoked the permit since the building is managed by the Indonesian armed forces which must maintain their neutrality during the election.

However, Kinas said the permit was previously given as both parties agreed to leave out campaign attributes and any political party affiliation during the Desak Anies event.

The venue management had coordinated with the Indonesian armed forces, Kinas said. "So the head of the management confirmed to the Indonesian armed forces and the organizer of the event was given then news only after the confirmation," Kinas added.

The head of Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar regional winning team Agus Sulistyono also confirmed the cancellation of the event in Museum Diponegoro. "The initial location as Pendopo Ambarrukmo was canceled due to the size of the venue," he said on Monday. "But for Museum Diponegoro, we have obtained the permit and it was revoked all of a sudden."

The event was about to be transferred to Sportorim of Yogyakarta's Muhammadiyah University, but it was also canceled after considering the limitation of Desak Anies' audience.

Desak Anies is one of the campaign methods of Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar that prioritizes dialogue. According to Anies, this event is held in response to the overwhelming number of campaign props installed in the regions.
