Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo was scheduled to visit Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Saturday, Dec. 16, to discuss various efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries.

“The President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Prime Minister of Japan will meet tomorrow (Dec. 16) to discuss efforts that can further strengthen our bilateral relations,” Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said at the inauguration ceremony of the Indonesian Embassy building in Tokyo on Friday, Dec. 15.

3. Jokowi Says Jakarta Crowds Complicate MRT Phase 2A Construction

President Joko Widodo or Jokowi conducted a field inspection on the construction of MRT Jakarta Phase 2A in the Monas area, Gambir, Central Jakarta on Friday, December 15, 2023. Jokowi mentioned the difficulties in the project, albeit its progress has exceeded the target.

The project includes building two tunnels connecting Bundaran HI-Thamrin Station and Thamrin-Monas Stations, as well as two tunnels connecting Monas Station and Harmoni Station.
