TEMPO.CO, Bandung - State-owned railway firm PT Kereta Api Indonesia’s (KAI) Operational Region (Daop) 2 Bandung announced that it will be operating four additional trains for the Christmas and New Year holidays, from Dec. 21, 2023, to Jan. 4, 2024.

“Additional trains during the Christmas and New Year holidays period are provided to give customers more options in choosing departure schedules in advance,” Executive Vice President of KAI Daop 2 Bandung, Takdir Santoso, said in a statement on Monday, Dec. 4.

The additional trains have a capacity of 2,132 seats. They are two KA Lodaya Tambahan connecting Bandung-Solobalapan, KA Argo Parahyangan Tambahan connecting Bandung-Gambir, and KA Tambahan KAC-SGU connecting Kiaracondong-Surabaya Gubeng.

At least 51,446 tickets, or 20 percent of the total regular train tickets, for the year-end holiday departure, have been sold out as of Monday, December 4. KAI Daop 2 Bandung prepared 252,552 regular tickets for the holiday period.

The most popular train was KA Kahuripan on the Kiaracondong-Blitar route, followed by KA Lodaya on the Bandung-Solobalapan route.

PT KAI encouraged the public to book their tickets well in advance of the holiday season. Train tickets can be purchased 45 days prior to departure. For direct purchase at stations, they are available three hours before departure.

“These additional trains show KAI's dedication to providing transportation facilities for customers who want to travel for Christmas and its commitment to serving the community in the best way possible,” Takdir concluded.
