TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's state railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia, or KAI, will operate 34 additional trains during the Christmas and New Year transportation period. KAI's VP for public relations, Joni Martinus, said the additional trains will be for favorite routes such as round trip travels between Jakarta and Solo, Surabaya, and Malang, and Bandung-Solo round-trip.
"KAI is adding several trips on various routes and classes to accommodate the high demand for train trips during the holiday seasons. These additional schedules show KAI's readiness to provide transportation facilities for customers who want to travel during Christmas and New Year," Joni said on Wednesday, November 29.
Joni said that additional train tickets could be ordered starting Wednesday, November 29 via the Access by KAI application, the kai.id website, and all other official online sales channels.
Meanwhile, stations' counters will only sell tickets for trips of the day, starting 3 hours before the scheduled train departure.
So far, KAI has recorded sales of 549,612 long-distance train tickets, or 24 percent of the tickets provided. In total, KAI is providing over 2.33 million tickets for the Christmas and New Year Transport period, which is between December 21, 2023 and January 7, 2024.
