TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - To manage the volume of vehicles at the port during the upcoming year-end holidays, the Traffic Corps of the National Police planned to sell ferry tickets entirely online.
"Concerning ticketing, we hope that no more people come to the port to buy tickets since it's all online," said the Chief of Traffic Corps Firman Shantyabudi on Friday.
The police also inspected the preparation of Ketapang Port and Jangkar Port to anticipate the upcoming holidays. Especially since the Transportation Ministry reported that people will prefer using land transportation and Bali was deemed one of the most popular destinations this year.
"We have received a note that Jangkat port could become one of the additional options to break the flow of vehicles trying to cross from Ketapang to Gilimanuk or Lembar," Firman said.
Additionally, Firman also asked to temporarily halt the operation of tri-axle vehicles before December 22, excluding those carrying fuel or food materials.
Firman also urged citizens to abide by the traffic law during their travel for the Christmas and New Year holidays and respect other people on the road.
