Directorate General of Village Governance Holds Meeting for P3PD Legal Assistance in West Java

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General (DG) of Village Governance of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) held a Consolidation Meeting on Legal Issues Assistance in the Implementation of the Strengthening Village Government and Development Programme (P3PD) in West Java, Thursday, November 2, 2023, in Bandung.

Representing the Director General of Bina Pemdes, Head of Planning Yose Rizal said the meeting was held to build a common vision and mission in handling complaints and give legal assistance in the implementation of P3PD.

Moreover, this meeting is expected to identify legal issues that may arise in the implementation and management of P3PD and share experiences in conducting legal assistance in the management of programs in the village.

Yose explained that the size of the Village Fund (Dana Desa) budget given by the government to the village requires village officials' readiness to manage it properly, carefully, orderly, and with accountability.

According to him, the use of village funds and its results in some villages is still irresponsible, so there are still public complaints and legal problems.

"The data shows community complaints or legal problems faced by villages are caused by, among others, duplication of activity budgets, use of budgets that are not in accordance with designations, levies or deductions from village funds, inflating activity budgets or markups, to fictitious projects or activities and fictitious official trips," said Yose.

Yose added that control and supervision of development activities in the village need to be a serious concern to reduce and avoid public complaints or dealing with the law.

P3PD Senior Advisor CPMU Tundra Meliala said legal problems will always exist, even during the P3PD training held in 33 provinces and more than 33,000 villages.

"Legal problems always exist everywhere, especially the P3PD that currently provides training in 33 provinces and more than 33,000 villages. We need to minimize this in order to avoid misuse of the budget," said Tundra.

Also attending the meeting were APIP, DPMD, BPKP, RMC West Java, PMD Office, and APIP of Cianjur, Purwakarta, Kuningan, Sumedang, and Tasikmalaya.
