TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ganjar Pranowo, a presidential candidate backed by the coalition of the ruling party PDIP, said that Vice President Ma'ruf Amin planned to invite the latter’s potential successors following today’s meeting between President Jokowi and the three candidates at the State Palace.
“If I'm not mistaken, there will be an invitation for the vice presidential candidates to meet with the Vice President,” Ganjar told reporters at the State Palace after the lunch meeting with fellow candidates; Anies Baswedan and Prabowo Subianto.
Ganjar said he was not informed yet when the meeting would take place, so his coalition would wait for a call from the palace.
Today, Oct. 30, Jokowi hosted a lunch with the presidential candidates at the State Palace in Central Jakarta. The vice presidential candidates did not take part in the meeting, including his eldest son and Prabowo's running mate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Prabowo jokingly responded to the absence of the vice presidential candidates at Monday’s lunch. “The table is small, the table is not big enough,” he said.
Meanwhile, Anies said his running mate Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin is currently in Malang.
Monday's lunch, Ganjar said, was Jokowi's attempt to establish good communication with participants in the 2024 presidential election. "We are well aware that the president is trying to ensure that we can always communicate well."
