Presidential Expert Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana confirmed that President Joko Widodo or Jokowi will inaugurate two state officials today, October 25, 2023. They are the Minister of Agriculture and the Army Chief of Staff.

However, Ari refused to disclose the names of the two state officials. “Wait for it at 9 a.m.,” he told Tempo via a text message today.

2. Jakarta's Plan on Online Shops, Ojek Tax Implementation Awaits Central Govt's Approval

The provincial government of Jakarta is expressing its plan to tax online shops and online ojek. However, as stated by the Head of Jakarta Local Revenue Office Lusiana Herawati, the capital city still awaited a clear regulation on online shops and online ojek to be released by the central government.

"For now, the provincial government of Jakarta is waiting for the [central government's] regulation before proceeding with the next steps," she said when met in Jakarta on Monday, October 23, 2023.

3. Sandiaga Uno Backs Jakarta-Surabaya High-speed Train via Southern Coastal Area

Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno supported the government’s plan to develop the Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed train as it could help promote tourist destinations and improve the people’s economy.

He suggested that the bullet train pass through Java’s southern coastal areas. “That’s a very nice route,” he said after the Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno at the ministry’s building on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023.

However, he did not impose his opinion, acknowledging that the decision on which route to take must be based on considerations of the investment rate of return.
