1. 31,000 Whoosh High-Speed Train Tickets Sold, Occupancy Rate 96%

After starting commercial operation, Whoosh High-Speed Train has reportedly boarded 7,000 people until Thursday, October 19, 2023. General Manager Corporate Secretary PT KCIC Eva Chairunisa stated that the number of passengers increased nearly twice the amount of passengers the day before.

In total, she said, there are 31,000 tickets sold from October 17 to 23, 2023. "Four trains are operating in a 96 percent occupancy rate, while a number of other trains are operating in 40 to 70 percent occupancy rate," she wrote in a statement on October 20, 2023.

Noting the enthusiasm, PT KCIC added 12 more schedules for Whoosh, especially for this weekend, October 20 to 22, 2023. According to the data, Whoosh's tickets for the weekend have been sold out, and the additional trip schedule would hopefully accommodate any potential passengers who failed to secure the tickets before.

2. PTDI Exports 6 NC212i Aircrafts to the Philippines

State-owned aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia, or PTDI, exported six NC212i aircraft to the Philippines. The export was facilitated by the Indonesian Export Financing Institution or Indonesia Eximbank with a solution to finance the planes requested by the Department of National Defense/Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The export financing amounted to US$79 million by using the National Interest Account (NIA) scheme, inked on October 18. The financing scheme specialized in national strategic transportation manufacturing.

"The financing given by the Indonesia Eximbank to PTDI is a realization of support from the government to Indonesia's export situation, given airplanes will boost Indonesia's reputation on the global stage," said the Director of Business Development at Indonesia Eximbank Maqin U. Norhadi in a written statement on Thursday, Oct. 19.

3. Indonesia Exports US$2.2mn of Sardines to Germany

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita exported Banyuwangi-produced sardines to Germany amounting to US$2.2 million on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Banyuwangi is claimed as one of the world's biggest sardine exporters.

Agus Gumiwang mentioned that success in penetrating Germany's market is a marker of quality. "Germany is known for the high standard it implements for imported goods," he said in a written statement on Thursday. "Meaning, starting from the materials, the production process, canning, all of it has surpassed [Germany's] standardization. Hopefully, moving forward, more European countries follow suit."

Indonesia, said the minister of industry, is in the top 10 fishery products exporters in the world. He is optimistic that the productivity of the tinned fish factory in Banyuwangi would be able to push Indonesia's position in the rank.
