TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia, or PTDI, exported six NC212i aircraft to the Philippines. The export was facilitated by the Indonesian Export Financing Institution or Indonesia Eximbank with a solution to finance the planes requested by the Department of National Defense/Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The export financing amounted to US$79 million by using the National Interest Account (NIA) scheme, inked on October 18. The financing scheme specialized in national strategic transportation manufacturing.

"The financing given by the Indonesia Eximbank to PTDI is a realization of support from the government to Indonesia's export situation, given airplanes will boost Indonesia's reputation on the global stage," said the Director of Business Development at Indonesia Eximbank Maqin U. Norhadi in a written statement on Thursday, Oct. 19.

NIA is the government-mandated financing scheme intended for transactions deemed critical for Indonesia. So far, Indonesia Eximbank has successfully distributed NIA programs worth Rp12 trillion to support more than 80 export products to more than 100 countries.

PTDI Director of Finance, Risk Management, and Human Resources Wildan Arief mentioned that the Philippines has ordered PTDI's planes twice. NC212i aircraft is a light aircraft with a modern avionic system with a full glass cockpit and autopilot, completed with a winglet, ramp door, and a wider cabin compared to aircraft of its caliber.

PTDI has been the only producer of NC212i since 2014. So far, it has manufactured 123 units of NC212i aircraft, with a total population globally of 606 units.
