TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted that Yogyakarta will experience colder weather at the end of the month, reaching 17 degrees Celsius. Previously, from the start to the middle of July, the lowest temperature reached 18-19 degrees Celsius.

"This Sunday, the temperature ranges from 17 to 31 degrees Celsius," said the Head of Climatology Station BMKG Reni Kraningtyas, on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

The biting cold is usually experienced from night to dawn. Currently, Yogyakarta is in the middle of the dry season marked with a clear sky with little to no clouds, which makes the earth's cooling process faster.

Besides anticipating the cold, tourists interested in spending their holiday at Yogyakarta are also warned to remain vigilant of the high waves on Yogyakarta's south beaches. According to the Meteorology Station of BMKG in its atmosphere dynamics analysis, there are low-pressure centers in the Pacific Ocean at east of the Philippines, north of Papua, and south of Laos.

The condition created shearline in the center and north of Indonesia. The wind in the Java region and specifically Yogyakarta is as fast as 35-45 km/jhour which will potentially create 4-6 meters of waves in Yogyakarta's waters.
