TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 25,000 vaccine doses are prepared to prevent diseases on Central Java’s livestock, following anthrax findings on cows in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta.

The vaccine will be distributed based on risk level. “We will prioritize livestock in areas with potential for direct impact and the border areas,” said Agus Wariyanto, Head of the Health and Livestock Services of Central Java on Thursday, July 6, 2023.

Agus stated that other prevention measures are also taken, such as a limitation on livestock mobility through Animal Health Affidavit inspection. According to Agus, there are livestock mobility observation posts located on the border of Yogyakarta and Central Java, such as Magelang, Klaten, and Purworejo.

Agus also warned about the disease transmission from animal to human. “Important prevention method, marks and cements the grave of infected livestock to remind future generations about anthrax,” he said.

Previously in the 90s, anthrax broke through in several regions in Central Java, such as Klaten, Semarang, Surakarta, Boyolali, Karanganyar, Pati, Sragen, and Wonogiri.
