TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Jakarta Resort Police Chief Sr. Comr. M Syahduddi said on Friday that BT, 23, who is a suspect in the Coldplay ticket scam committed the act as revenge because he was scammed when buying a Blackpink concert ticket.

“The perpetrator commits this crime because he said he wanted revenge as he had been deceived before,” Syahduddi said in a press conference today, June 9.

BT was fooled in February 2022 when he ordered tickets for the South Korean girl band, Blackpink, concert in Jakarta and did not file a police report. He lost Rp15 million.

His experience and disappointment of being conned make him want revenge by deceiving others who will buy tickets to Coldplay, which is scheduled to be held on November 15, 2023.

Syahduddi said BT had deceived others twice. First, he opened a repair service for Instagram accounts belonging to people whose ID cards are used to deceive people. The victim had reported to the Semarang police with a total loss of Rp3.5 million.

Secondly, BT scammed DA with a Coldplay concert ticket worth Rp5.5 million. So he earned Rp9 million.

BT who is a student majoring in computer science at a private university in Semarang offered 20 tickets to DA. The victim, fortunately, only purchased one ticket.

Syahduddi went on to say that the police confiscated three smartphones, an ATM card, a sim card, and a pair of black Adidas shoes purchased with fraudulent money. For his actions, BT will be charged with Article 378 of the Criminal Code on fraud which carries a 4-year jail sentence.
