TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) is escorting the deportation of 52 Chinese nationals who are arrested in cases of international online fraud networks. The syndicate pretended to be the police to blackmail victims.

“We have escorted the deportation process of 52 foreign nationals from China who are involved in an international fraud network,” said the Police Director of General Crimes Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahadrjo Puro, in a written statement on Friday, May 26, 2023.

He explained that they are deported in the early hours of Thursday, May 25, but three other Chinese nationals who are also involved in the case have not been deported because their travel documents are still being processed.

The deportation was divided into three departure groups. “This deportation is the authority of Immigration, Bareskrim only carries out escorts to ensure the process runs smoothly,” Djuhandhani added.

The National Police’s Directorate of General Crimes arrested 55 foreigners in South Jakarta and East Jakarta for allegedly being involved in international fraud networks via electronic media. Djuhandhani previously revealed that six Indonesian citizens were also apprehended in this case.
