TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Alumni Brotherhood or PA 212 threatens to besiege the airport if Coldplay comes to Indonesia. Coldplay plans to hold a concert in Jakarta on November 15. The spokesperson of Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Jodi Mahardi, responded to this issue.

Jodi said that the decision related to the implementation of international concerts would have involved various licensing processes and security considerations carried out by various parties. "We’re sure that law enforcers have anticipated everything," Jodi told Tempo in a written statement on Saturday, May 20.

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno also responded to the threat of PA 212 against the Coldplay concert. He ensured that Coldplay will still perform the concert in Jakarta without any disruption from any party.

"We’ll make sure that there is no threat from any party as Indonesia prioritizes service to its guests as our customs and culture," said Sandiaga when met with Tempo at his office in Central Jakarta on Monday, May 15.

He said that the government will ensure a positive narrative of this event since his side will continue to make Indonesia a destination for world-class concerts and MICE or meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions.

Therefore, Sandiaga was coordinating with the police, especially considering that the Coldplay concert is a global-scale event. The minister admitted that he also maintains coordination with the promoter, PK Entertainment.

Previously, PA 212 secretary-general deputy, Novel Bamukmin said that his side is ready to hold a big rally if Coldplay continues to hold their concert in Indonesia. They are even ready to move their mass to besiege the airport upon Coldplay’s arrival in Indonesia.
