TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG detected two cyclone seeds near Indonesia, namely 93W tropical cyclone seeds at the Sulu Sea, the Philippines, and 95W tropical cyclone seeds in the Pacific Ocean north of Papua.

The first tropical cyclone seeds of 93W were observed at a maximum 20-knot wind speed and a minimum of 1,008.6 MB air pressure. The cyclone seeds are moving slowly in a west-northwest direction with the potential to become a cyclone in the next 24 hours in the medium category.

This forms a slowing down wind velocity area (convergence) extending from North Kalimantan to the Sulawesi Sea and from the Philippines to the South China Sea, which may increase the potential for rain cloud growth and sea wave height around the cyclone seeds system.

Indirect impacts on weather in Indonesia include strong winds in North Kalimantan and moderate to heavy rain in North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan.

Meanwhile, the 95W tropical cyclone seeds were observed at a maximum 15-knot wind speed and a minimum of 1,006.7 MB air pressure. The cyclone seeds move slowly in the northwest direction and have 24 hours to become a cyclone in the low category.

This system creates a convergence area in the Pacific Ocean northeast of Papua which can increase the potential for rain cloud growth and sea wave height around the cyclone seed system. The indirect impact of this system in Indonesia includes strong wind in North Maluku, West Papua, and Papua, as well as heavy rain in North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, North Maluku, West Papua, and Papua.

Rain with lightning on Friday, May 5, is predicted to occur in Banda Aceh, Jambi, Tarakan, and Palembang. Moderate-intensity rains are expected to shower Serang, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Pontianak, Tanjung Pinang, Bandar Lampung, Ambon, Manokwari, Mamuju, Kendari, and Medan areas.

Meanwhile, light-intensity rains are expected to occur in Bengkulu, North Jakarta, Gorontalo, Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Pangkal Pinang, Ternate, Jayapura, Pekanbaru, Makassar, Manado, and Padang.

Air temperature is expected to be around 19-34 degrees Celcius. The lowest temperature would be in Bandung, and the highest in Denpasar, Gorontalo, Surabaya, Palangkaraya, and Medan.

BMKG also raised alert status based on the impact of heavy rains in Aceh, West Java, and Southeast Sulawesi.
