TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State railway company KAI launched a long-distance trip ticket sale for Eid homecoming or mudik on Tuesday, March 7. The tickets for the mudik trip until April 21 are available starting today and can be purchased through the KAI Access app, kai.id page, and all official ticket-selling sites.
“For the departures of 10 days before Eid, which is from 12 to 21 of April, there are around 313,526 seats,” said the head of public relations at KAI Jakarta area Eva Chairunisa in a written statement received by Tempo on Tuesday, March 7.
From that number, about 155,000 tickets were sold, Eva said. “But the number of ticket purchases and available seats may change as the sale is ongoing and there will be more programs prepared by the company,” she added.
Eva explained that people can purchase this year's Eid homecoming tickets 45 days before the departure date. Therefore, starting on February 26, the customer could already purchase early departure tickets from Gambir Station and Pasar Senen Station to depart on April 12-21. Meanwhile, the tickets for the next departure schedule can be booked according to the ticket reservation policy which starts selling 45 days before the scheduled departure.
Based on the data of pre-Eid ticket booking, the majority of ticket purchases were made for scheduled departures from April 18-21. The occupancy rate of several train trips has reached 90 percent with the departure from Gambir and Pasar Senen stations, with the most favored destinations, including Yogyakarta, Kutoarjo, Purwokerto, Surabaya, Pasar Turi, Semarang, Tegal, Kebumen, and Kroya.
Overall, the availability of seats for pre-Eid departures on April 12-21, is still available. The public can readjust their choice of date and time of departure if the availability of tickets on favorite schedules such as D-4 to D-1 has been sold," Eva explained.
As for the additional departure tickets, KAI will disseminate the number of trains that will be used during the Eid transportation season. The public is encouraged to regularly check the KAI Access app for updated information.
KAI Jakarta area also reminds the passengers to pay attention to the latest vaccination policy.
