TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Traffic Corps has started preparing the homecoming route for Eid al-Fitr 2023 which falls from April 21 to 23. This is aimed at improving the supporting infrastructure from last year's Eid exodus period.
"Last year, there is this one road section that has not yet been used by the people, called the Pansel route (South Pantura)," said the traffic police chief Ins. Gen. Firman Shantyabudi, quoted from the NTMC Police website today on Friday, January 6, 2023.
According to Firman, during the 2022 Eid homecoming period, several roads had not been equipped with lighting for the traffic and drivers' rest areas. This is the reason why many drivers were reluctant to use the route.
"There are roads that have not yet been facilitated by lighting, gas stations, rest areas, and restaurants. Therefore, many people still tend to do their homecoming travel through the toll and arterial roads. We understand that people want to be safe during the month of fasting," he explained.
In preparing for the route of the 2023 Eid homecoming, the National Police Traffic Corps will coordinate with several stakeholders. Nevertheless, Firman appealed to the public planning to travel during the Eid homecoming season to drive in a fit condition to avoid accidents.
