Yogyakarta Earthquake Disrupts 11 Train Trips

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 5.8-magnitude earthquake in Yogyakarta on August 26, 2024, at 08:40 p.m. local time disrupted 11 train trips. Moments after the earthquake, authorities stopped the trains for safety inspections.
The Yogyakarta Centralized Operation Control temporarily halted train operations along the Yogyakarta Operations Area 6 to check the railways simultaneously. “Based on the data gathered by officers on the ground, the railways were declared safe at 08:22 p.m. local time,” said Krisbiyantoro, Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Monday, August 26, 2024.
As many as eleven train trips were disrupted as a result, which recorded a total of 274 minutes of delay. The trains that were halted were as follows:
- Train 93 (Lodaya) in Yogyakarta contributed to 25 minutes of delay
- Train 124 (Bangunkarta) in Yogyakarta contributed to 26 minutes of delay
- Train 87 (Senja Utama Solo) in Wates contributed to 14 minutes of delay
- Train 106 (Gaya Baru Malam Selatan) in Purwosari contributed to 16 minutes of delay
- Plb 97A (Sancaka) in Solo contributed to 21 minutes of delay
- Train 55 (Gajayana) in Klaten contributed to 25 minutes of delay
- Plb 241A (Sri Tanjung) in Srowot - Brambanan contributed to 28 minutes of delay
- Plb 222A (Jaka Tingkir)in Maguwo - Brambanancontributed to 24 minutes of delay
- Plb 578A (Yia-Yk Airport) in Rewulu - Patukan road section contributed to 24 minutes of delay
- Plb 579A (Yk-Yia Airport) in Kedungdang - YIA road section contributed to 33 minutes of delay
- Ka 684 (CL Yk-PL) in Yogyakarta contributed to 14 minutes of delay
Infrastructure officers found that the earthquake did not affect the structures of the road and the construction of buildings and bridges in the Yogyakarta Operations Area.
“The train stations were also safe and did not disrupt train operations,” he said. “No need to worry for those traveling by trains, Yogyakarta Operations Daop 6 is committed to providing safe, comfortable and safe train travel to their destination," he said.
