TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Java Bapenda (regional revenue agency) issued a report suggesting that electric vehicle (EV) users in the province – which is one of the most populated provinces in Indonesia – has reached 3,000 users.

The West Java Bapenda chief Dedi Taufik gave this report after opening a tax event, in which one of the themes of discussion is EV tax. The general discussion at the event was strategizing an increase in the province’s income.

"There are only around 3,000 of these electric cars in West Java. Now the target is that in 2030, 30 percent of road users will already be using electric cars, which means there wil be an effect for us,” he said on March 1, Antaranews reported.

Tax relaxation programs and policies that ease the use of electric vehicles will reportedly still be presented this year. According to Dedi, the West Java Bapenda will find a solution so that regional revenue exceeds the target. One of the ways is by strengthening intensification and extensification, all of which will be explored more deeply in the Bapenda forum.

Not only from the use of electric cars, but strengthening will also be carried out in other sectors, such as PKB, BBNKB I and II, fuel taxes, cigarette taxes, and surface water taxes.
