TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned eight witnesses to look into a possible money laundering case in an ongoing graft investigation against non-active Papua Governor Lukas Enembe. Out of the eight witnesses, only four witnesses fulfilled the summons.

“Witnesses were present and questioned related to among others, the alleged ownership of the suspect LE's economic assets,” said the Head of KPK’s media unit Ali Fikri in a written statement on Friday, February 3, 2023.

The witnesses present were Yonater Karomba (a private party), Herman (notary), Hendrika Josina Sartje Dina (a private party), and David Manibui (a private party). All of them were questioned at the Papua Regional Police HQ, except for David Manibui, who is currently arrested at the Sukamiskin Penitentiary, Bandung, for his involvement in a road construction corruption case in Jayapura.

The four witnesses who did not meet the call were Dius Enumbi (a civil servant at the Papua Provincial Government), Debora Salossa (acting Head of the Goods and Services Procurement Service Agency for the Papua Regional Secretariat), Imelda Sun (a private party), and Pondiron Wonda (a private party).

Ali said the investigation team would present another summon for those who were not present at the questioning on Friday, February 3, 2023.

Lukas Enembe was named a suspect in a bribery case for a number of development projects in Papua. The KPK had also named the owner of PT Tabi Bangun Papua, Rijantono Lakka, who was suspected of being a bribe giver.

The possible money laundering case stemmed from a report by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) that detected suspicious transactions of enormous value from the accounts of Lukas and his family, including a transfer to a gambling house in Singapore, Marina Bay Sands, reaching Rp500 billion.

Lukas Enembe had many times refused the KPK’s summons for investigation due to health issues. He was then arrested on January 10, 2023, in Jayapura, Papua, and detained in Jakarta.
