TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) recorded that 28 neighborhood units or RT and three roads in the capital were flooded as of 6 p.m. today. The agency head Isnawa Adji said it occurred following moderate to heavy rain that drenched most city areas this afternoon.

The number of inundated areas increased from 19 RTs based on the data issued as of 5 p.m. or one hour earlier. “It is targeted to recede quickly,” said Isnawa in his written statement, Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

The height of the water varied from 35 to 100 centimeters. Most of the soaked areas were in South Jakarta with a total of 23 RT, including Cipulir, Gunung, Kramat Pela, Kuningan Barat, Pela Mampang, and Duren Tiga sub-districts.

The disaster in those areas was attributable to the high-intensity rainfall. In Kuningan Barat, meanwhile, it was also the result of the overflow of the Mampang and Krukut Rivers.

Isnawa said that three RT in East Jakarta were inundated, namely in Tengah and Kampung Melayu sub-districts. In West Jakarta, two inundated areas were in the Sukabumi Selatan sub-district.

“It was caused by high rainfall and overflow of the Pesanggrahan River,” he explained.

Three roads that were flooded were as follows:

  1. Jalan Ciledug Raya, Cipulir Village, South Jakarta at a height of 55 cm
  2. Jalan Kemang Utara IX, Duren Tiga Village, South Jakarta at a height of 40 cm
  3. Jalan Kebayoran Lama, North Grogol Village, South Jakarta at a height of 35cm
