TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The central government is determined to add more train tracks at Tanah Abang Station, Central Jakarta, Jakarta government confirmed via its Instagram account @dkijakarta on Monday, January 2, 2023.

“It’s targeted to be completed by the end of 2023,” as written in the post quoted today, January 3, 2023.

It is also informed that the train track at Tanah Abang Station will be increased from four to six in a bid to overcome the density of passengers and optimize train operations.

“There will be additional train lines from four to six which are expected to increase [passengers’ number] and anticipate passengers’ density in the following years,” the post said.

Tanah Abang Station is one of the transit stations serving train routes to Bogor, Bekasi, and Tangerang. Thus, it is packed with passengers, especially during rush hour.

The city government is working with the Transportation Ministry and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) in this new line infrastructure development project.

Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency Syafrin Liputo said that the project will be executed by the central government without involving the city administration. He stopped short of identifying the ministry in question.
