TEMPO.CO, Bandung - West Java governor Ridwan Kamil on Wednesday assured the public that the provincial government has an Rp20 billion budget allocated for disaster mitigation, which in this case will be used to respond to the destructive earthquake that hit Cianjur.

This allocated budget comes separate from the Rp2 billion regional expenses for the logistical needs of the earthquake survivors who have been displaced from their homes and are now settling at temporary refugee camps.

“We have prepared Rp20 billion for emergency situations,” said the governor in his statement on November 23.

Governor Kamil noted that the central government has also pledged to contribute to funding the post-disaster recovery process which will include reconstructing severely damaged houses and other facilities.

Ridwan Kamil said that a number of local government officials who will be present as delegates at The 11th East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress, which will be held in Bandung tomorrow have also provided disaster aid for the earthquake victims.

“All delegates expressed their condolence and sent financial aid," he said.

Amidst recovering from the destructive earthquake that happened on Monday, the 11th East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress will continue on November 24 as it is an event planned three years prior that was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
