TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police's Profession and Security (Propam) Division arrested East Java Regional Police Chief Insp. Gen. Teddy Minahasa on Friday morning, October 14. The two-star general is suspected of being involved in a drug ring.

"He is suspected of selling," House of Representatives Law Commission member from the Nasdem Faction, Ahmad Saroni, said on Friday, October 14, 2022.

A law enforcement officer said that Teddy's arrest by the Propam was a follow-up to the arrest of drug dealers. They claimed to have received supplies of crystal meth or syabu from amphetamine from evidence confiscated by the West Sumatra Resort Police.

Teddy Minahasa was the West Sumatra Regional Police Chief before his transfer to East Java.

The dealers said that a high-ranking police officer sold them 5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

According to the law enforcement officer, the methamphetamine was sold for around Rp400 million per kilogram. "[Teddy Minahasa] allegedly received a fee of Rp300 million per kilo," he said.

National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo will provide information about the news of Teddy's arrest.

"This afternoon the National Police Chief will issue a release," the National Police's head of PR Insp. Gen. Dedy Prasetyo said.
