TEMPO.CO, South Tangerang - Chief of emergency and logistic department at Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Tangerang Selatan, Faridzal Gumay, said that the flood was inundating 9 areas in his region. Reportedly, 1,252 families were affected by the flood.

The flood was caused by heavy rain from Tuesday afternoon until evening. Until Tuesday night, the floodwater still inundated several areas in Tangsel. "Temporary updates reported that until 20:00, flooding remains in Ciputat, Pamulang, and East Ciputat regencies," he told Tuesday, October 4.

The water level in the 9 areas varied from 35 centimeters (cm) to 70 cm. Faridzal said the flood has started to recede. "In total, 1,252 families are affected by the flood," he added.

However, no one has evacuated, said Faridzal. It was predicted that the flood would recede in a few hours after the rain stops.

"Usually, [the flood] will recede in 2-3 hours after the rain stops, as long as the rain in the upstream has also stopped," he explained.

In addition to 9 flooded areas in Tangsel City, rain also caused a landslide in a housing complex in Pisangan, Ciputat.
