TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Surabaya Traffic Police planned to fully implement the electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) or e-ticketing system in the region starting October 3, 2022. The dissemination of the traffic system has been carried out for almost two weeks.

“ETLE Mobile Gadget will be implemented on October 3, coinciding with Semeru Zebra Operation,” said the chief of Surabaya Traffic Police Comr. Arif Fazlurrahman as quoted from the National Police Traffic Management Center (NTMC) page today, September 27, 2022.

During the trial run, the police also conducted an analysis and evaluation to record roads that often reported traffic violations to be the target of the ETLE operation.

“During the Semeru Zebra Operation, we will optimize the system use,” Arif added.

He ensured that the officers were trained enough to process the traffic violation captured in the field.

The Surabaya Traffic Police recorded many traffic violations committed by two-wheelers, such as not wearing a helmet. “While [violations by] four-wheelers include parking at no-parking signs and markings,” said Arif.
