TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of institutions of the West Java Provincial government will start to utilize electric vehicles as official state transportation starting in 2023. It aligns with Presidential Instruction No.7/2022 overseeing the use of EVs as government official transport.

This was confirmed by the West Java head of the Energy and Mineral Resources Agency Ai Saadiyah Dwidaningsih who said that the West Java provisional government will follow the instruction.

"It will gradually be implemented for several bureaus and agencies, there is also for the council (DPRD). The use of electric vehicles can serve as a public campaign to show that we are committed and the community will also see us going back and forth (using electric vehicles)," he said, Antaranews reported.

Before the instruction was issued, the local provincial budgeting plan for 2023 included a budget to rent 26 electric cars.

"We have actually tried to start first. Prior to Presidential Instruction No.7/2022, West Java had already allocated next year's budget for electric service vehicles," he added.
