TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Main Headquarters on Thursday commented on the alleged arrest of a Madiun, East Java, resident who is believed to be the hacker who carries the pseudonym Bjorka.

National Police spokesperson grand commissioner Nurul Azizah said authorities are yet able to confirm the arrest.

“We have not been informed,” said Nurul to Tempo on September 15.

Tempo reached out to the East Java police and received the same answer as the local police is unaware of such an arrest. “I have received no info yet. We’ll check it later,” said E. Java police spokesperson commissioner Dirmanto.

Previously, it was reported that a young man in Madiun was nabbed by the Cyber Team of the Police Headquarters. The young man with the initials MAH (21) is suspected of being the person behind the hacker known as Bjorka who hacked a number of state institutions. MAH is said to have been arrested at 18:30 WIB on Wednesday, September 14.

Bjorka took national headlines for the past few months after claiming to have succeeded in hacking a number of confidential data, ranging from data on Indonesian residents, SIM card user data, personal data of the Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny G. Plate, as well as confidential document data belonging to President Joko Widodo or Jokowi, and other national figures. .
