TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Secretary General of the House of Representatives (DPR) Indra Iskandar stated that the DPR had successfully regained access to its YouTube channel after it was hacked on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
“The DPR's YouTube account is back at 10 p.m. (Wednesday). All old videos will be gradually moved over in the next few hours,” Indra told Tempo on Thursday, August 7, 2023.
The DPR's official YouTube page had been hacked and featured online gambling since Wednesday morning. The hackers even live-streamed online gambling games through this channel.
Indra said that in order to prevent such incidents from recurring, the House had prepared a Crisis Center Task Force in tandem with the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) and the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim).
BSSN managed to stop the live stream of online gambling and suspend the DPR’s YouTube account.
BSSN spokesperson Ariandi Putra explained that the agency's team had succeeded in suspending the DPR’s YouTube account and stopping the live stream of online gambling since 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
“At 8:30 pm. September 6, the DPR's YouTube account was restored but not completely,” Ariandi claimed.
According to him, the account was deactivated during the full recovery process. “The DPR's YouTube account was deactivated by the social media administrator of the DPR so it cannot be found on YouTube,” he said.
