TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo transferred 24 police personnel who are allegedly incriminated in the murder of its member, Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J, by violating the institution’s code of ethics.

The officers were transferred to the National Police’s headquarters service (Yanma), based on the official confidential telegram number ST/1751/VIII/KEP./2022 issued on August 22. It says that the massive transfer is related to attempts to obstruct the murder investigation.

The list includes high-ranking officers such as the South Jakarta Police Chief Sr. Coms. Budhi Herdi Susianto and Jakarta Metro Police General Crime Deputy Director Jerry Raymond Siagian.

Police spokesperson Dedi Prasetyo on August 23 confirmed the orders contained in the telegram and said the major transfers were “the recommendation from the Special Inspectorate. They were transferred to National Police Yanma.”

A special police unit to date has questioned 83 police officers who allegedly violated the code of ethics in the handling of the murder of Brigadier Yosua. Of all, 35 have received recommendations for incarceration while 15 have been detained for their alleged ethical code violation.

The national police have named five suspects for their involvement in the murder of a fellow police member, which are former internal affairs chief Ferdy Sambo, his wife Putri Chandrawathi, Richard Eliezer, Ricky Rizal, and Kuat Ma'ruf.
