TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Labor Party is set to file a judicial review of the Law on the legislation formation (UU PPP) on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 14:00 Jakarta time to the Constitutional Court. The party’s legal counsel Said Salahudin and Muhammad Imam Nassef will lead the submission of the material and formal examinations of the regulation.

“Approximately 150 workers will accompany the legal counsel to register the lawsuits with the Constitutional Court,” said Labor Party President Saiq Iqbal in a written statement, Monday, June 27, 2022.

Iqbal said the Labor Party consists of the four largest confederations of labor unions in Indonesia, 60 federations of labor unions, SPI, JALA PRT, UPC, the forum of honorary teachers, migrant workers, and online ojek drivers.

In the material examination, Iqbal explained his side did not reject the omnibus method but asked that the method should only be used for incorporating various materials into a law. “As long as the combined materials have the same subject,” he added.

According to him, the purpose of the petition is that if the Manpower Law is to be amended, the amendments should not combine in one law with materials related to investment and others.

“Another thing we ask is that the bill approved by the DPR and the President and materially ratified in the DPR's plenary session should not be changed,” said Iqbal.

Besides the agenda of the judicial review, the Labor Party will conduct an international campaign to reject the re-discussion of the Job Creation Law. Iqbal also said the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) had made a report to the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) regarding the regulation.
