TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian men's doubles pair Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianto wins the 2022 Indonesia Masters after beating Chinese pair Liang Wei Keng / Wang Chang at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, June 12, 2022. This is the only title for the host and their second title of the season after winning the Swiss Open Super 300.

Fajar claimed that winning the Indonesia Masters boosts his confidence. Currently ranked seventh in the world, he wished to penetrate the top five in the world rankings.

“Our target is not only to be more consistent but also to return to the top five at the end of this month. By the end of the year, we hope to be in the top three,” said Fajar at a press conference in Jakarta.

The Swiss Open and Indonesia Masters titles instantly boosted Fajar / Rian's enthusiasm to perform more consistently. They will again test their consistency as the host pair in a higher-level event, the 2022 Indonesia Open.

Fajar, however, said he would not consider the Indonesia Masters title as a burden when performing at the BWF World Tour Super 1000 which is set to begin on June 14, 2022. For the pair, the current most vital thing is to play even better.

The performance of Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the final round of the 2022 Indonesia Masters showed good strategy and confidence. They managed to claim the title with a straight-game win over the Chinese pair, 21-10, 21-17.
