TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) announced on Thursday, June 2, 2022, that it will exterminate 179 kilograms of cocaine wrapped inside a plastic bag that was found floating around the Port of Merak during a drug bust.

The Navy, at the time, forwarded its findings to the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in the Banten Province and later confirmed that the suspicious packaging floating on the ocean surface is indeed an illegal narcotic.

The Navy suspects the illegal narcotics can be worth up to IDR 1.25 trillion if the contraband reached the streets.

Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Vice Admiral TNI Agung Prasetiawan said the drugs would eventually be completely exterminated at the Fleet Command I (Koarmada) in Jakarta's Gunung Sahari.

"The central Jakarta district court has issued a warrant to seize [the drugs] and the destruction of the cocaines," Agung explained in a press conference.
